Practicing sport is a dynamic activity that should not be at odds with being able to enjoy our favourite clothes for a long, long time. However, it is accompanied by sweat stains, unpleasant odors, traces of dirt ... and despite what it may seem because of the stress to which we submit them, sportswear needs special care that we rarely know, but they are very simple! And as in FastLove we believe in taking care of what we like, we want to share with you our care tips to make your sportswear last long, long time and start to leave some myths about washing clothes in the past.

The hotterthewater, the better the garment is sanitized:

We should always look at the composition labels of the garments we are going to wash, as they specify the optimal washing conditions to keep each product in good condition.

The most common is that, as in the case of our designs, sportswear should not be washed at more than 30 ° C, since being garments made with special fabrics, higher temperatures can contribute to greater wear and even the loss of their technical qualities.

All together with the washing machine:

Sportswear is delicate, and we should keep in mind that it's not like washing a cotton sheet. If you find it impossible to wash your sportswear right when you get home or finish your routine, the best thing to do is to hang it somewhere where it can air out, and never put it in the washing machine when it's sweaty.

If your washing machine doesn't have a specific programme for sportswear, it's best to choose a programme for delicate garments, where the temperature is low, the rinse is generous and the spin is short. This will help the fabrics continue to wick sweat outwards, keeping your body dry and comfortable while doing sport, and will prevent wear and tear on the fibres.

The more soap, the better:

Soap, always better if it is liquid or neutral, dissolves worse in cold water than in hot water. Therefore, the dosage is particularly important when it comes to washing our sportswear. When the amount of soap is greater than recommended, the garment is insufficiently rinsed and a thin film of soap may remain covering the garment and obstructing its micropores, thus preventing proper perspiration when exercising and reducing the technical performance of the garment.

Bleach should not be used either, as it may contain bleach and is a great enemy of the delicate membranes that allow perspiration to escape.

The dirtier the clothes, the hotter the water should be:

No: it all depends on the type of clothes and the degree of dirt they have accumulated, as well as the technical specifications of the materials that make them up. In addition, dark colours and most fabrics wear out more at temperatures above 40°C, so the use of lukewarm water is even more advisable for black or brightly coloured garments.

There is nothing else I can do to extend the life of my garments:

One of the most widespread myths, but also one of the most uncertain! One of the causes of garment wear is the release of microfibres in each wash due to the spin cycles. This problem, which reduces the lifespan of your favourite garments, also increases the amount of microfibres in the ocean.
